The Coachella Valley Economic Partnership (CVEP) has appointed Laura James as its Interim Chief Executive Officer following the retirement announcement of current CEO and Chief Innovation Officer, Joe Wallace, scheduled for mid-2024.
James, who has been with CVEP since 2014 and served as Vice President of Innovation for the past five years, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. She has been instrumental in overseeing innovative projects such as the Coachella Valley Fast Pitch, the COVID-19 business impact survey, and the monthly Morning Insights event, which aims to connect entrepreneurs and newly relocated workers in the region. With over a decade of experience in economic development strategy, James holds an M.B.A. from Auburn University and has acquired various certificates and accreditations in the field.
"I am committed to ensuring a seamless transition as we strive to grow the regional economy in sustainable, meaningful ways," James expressed upon her appointment as Interim CEO.
