The City of Indio has announced the promotion of Assistant Chief Brian Tully to the position of Chief of Police for the Indio Police Department. Tully, who has been with the department since 2018, will now lead the force in ensuring the safety and security of the community.
City Manager Bryan Montgomery expressed confidence in Chief Tully's abilities, stating, "With a distinguished career, marked by exemplary service and profound commitment to the safety of our community, Chief Tully is well-equipped to lead the Indio Police Department into the future."
Chief Tully's extensive experience and qualifications make him a fitting choice for the role. He has overseen various functions of the department as Assistant Chief, including coordinating public safety at major events like the Coachella and Stagecoach Music and Arts Festivals. Additionally, he has served as project manager for the construction of the Public Safety Campus.
Reflecting on Chief Tully's background, the announcement highlighted his diverse experience, stating, "His tenure began at the San Bernardino Police Department, and throughout his career, he has worked on a wide variety of assignments, starting as a Reserve Police Officer."
The City of Indio also expressed gratitude for outgoing Chief of Police, Mike Washburn, for his service during his tenure. Washburn's leadership and contributions to the department were acknowledged and appreciated.
An official swearing-in ceremony for Chief Tully is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 3 p.m. at the City Council Chambers. Chief Tully and his wife Debra, who reside in Indio, have three adult children.
