The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office is urging the public to celebrate Cinco de Mayo responsibly by planning ahead and designating a sober driver. Deputy Michael Hinkle emphasized, "Don’t put yourself and others on the road at risk by driving impaired."

The Sheriff’s Office highlighted the importance of leaving keys at home and designating a sober driver if individuals plan to indulge in alcoholic beverages during the celebrations. Additionally, they cautioned that impairment can also result from substances other than alcohol. Deputy Hinkle stated, "Alcohol is not the only substance that can cause impairment. Marijuana, prescription medications or over-the-counter drugs may also impair."

To ensure safety on the roads, it is crucial for individuals to be aware of how various substances can affect their driving abilities. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office is committed to promoting responsible behavior during festivities like Cinco de Mayo.
