Palm Desert commercial burglary suspects apprehended by local law enforcement

On May 9, 2024, deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station responded to a commercial burglary report at the 74000 block of Highway 111. The victim reported that a motorcycle and firearm had been stolen from the premises. The investigation was subsequently taken over by members of the Palm Desert Burglar Suppression Unit.

The following day, on May 10, members of the Palm Desert Station located the stolen motorcycle at the 45000 block of Panorama Dr., in Palm Desert. A search was conducted at this location by members of the Burglar Suppression Unit, with assistance from Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team, Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team, and Indian Wells Special Enforcement Team. During this operation, both the stolen motorcycle and firearm were recovered.

As a result of these findings, John Schiavone, a 40-year-old resident of Palm Desert, was arrested on charges of burglary. Concurrently at this location, members of the Indian Wells Special Enforcement Team apprehended Sjannine Vanzant, a 38-year-old resident also from Palm Desert. Vanzant was wanted for multiple counts of theft and credit card fraud within the cities of Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, and Indian Wells.

Both Schiavone and Vanzant were booked at John Benoit Detention Center in Indio.
