The Mary Pickford Theatre in Downtown Cathedral City is set to unveil its new ScreenX auditorium on May 24, 2024, coinciding with the release of the film "Furiosa." This development follows an announcement made in April at CinemaCon by CJ 4DPLEX and D’Place Entertainment regarding the installation of the ScreenX format at this location.
ScreenX extends movie screens onto the surrounding walls of the auditorium, creating a 270-degree panoramic viewing experience. The new auditorium will feature a 50-foot-wide screen and luxury recliner seats. Upcoming films to be shown in this format include "Despicable Me 4," "Twisters," and "Deadpool & Wolverine."
Don Savant, President & CEO of CJ 4DPLEX America, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: “We’re excited to join forces with D’Place Entertainment and launch their very first ScreenX auditorium. Together, we’re reshaping the future of moviegoing, and we can’t wait for audiences to experience the magic of ScreenX at the Mary Pickford Theatre.”
Damon Rubio, president of D’Place Entertainment, added: “At D’Place, we are dedicated to entertaining guests each time they visit, and the addition of the 270-degree panoramic ScreenX auditorium epitomizes our unwavering commitment to our audience. We are thrilled to embark on this journey with ScreenX and look forward to creating unforgettable moments for our community at the Mary Pickford Theatre.”
