AAP – Food Samaritans is set to present the 'Evening Under the Stars' Garden Party, featuring a special performance by acclaimed singer-songwriter Debby Holiday. Known for her impactful music and engaging stage presence, Holiday will perform under the night sky, promising an evening of memorable entertainment.
The event follows AAP – Food Samaritans’ successful revival of 'Evening Under the Stars' last October. The garden party format raised funds to support the organization’s programs that provide food for low-income individuals living with chronic illnesses in Palm Springs and nearby areas.
CEO Mark Anton commented on the event's format: “Post COVID, the event was reimagined, and in 2023 we brought it back to our roots and had a celebration in one of the most spectacular estates in Palm Springs, featuring abundant food and drink and a $200 ticket price that was more in line with our grassroots nature. This October, in celebration of our supporters, we are honored to present Community Impact Awards to BONNIE AND ALAN CASHMAN, NINO EILETS, and RUTA LEE. We recognize their long-standing partnerships with us and all that they do in the community. (Much more about the honorees to come in a future news release.) We’ll complete the evening with a special performance by the superb Debby Holiday whose talent and generosity align perfectly with our mission to provide nutritional support to individuals facing chronic illnesses in our community. In its early years during the 1990s, 'Evening Under the Stars' began as a small fundraising party aimed at increasing AAP’s visibility while raising funds for their mission. Initially held in a board member's backyard with simple staging built by volunteers, it has since evolved into an annual gala attended by up to 1,500 guests featuring formal dinners and world-class entertainment from artists like Barry Manilow and Cyndi Lauper.
AAP – Food Samaritans has been serving Palm Springs for 33 years by providing nutritional support aimed at addressing food insecurity among people living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses. The organization focuses on improving quality of life through nutritional assistance for those unable to work due to debilitating conditions such as cancer or multiple sclerosis.
Debby Holiday has achieved significant success within her career including 17 Billboard Top 20 Dance Chart hits since breaking onto the scene with her summer anthem "Dive" in 2004. She has collaborated with various top songwriters and shared stages with renowned artists such as Rod Stewart and Joe Walsh. Her music has also been featured on television shows including NBC’s "The Office" and Showtime’s "The L Word."
Holiday continues her musical endeavors with new releases planned for 2024 along with ongoing performances worldwide.
