This decision, with a close vote of 216 to 214, advances the Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Resolution and activates the budget reconciliation process. Rep. Calvert emphasized the importance of the vote, stating, “Today’s vote moves us one step closer to preventing a massive tax increase on American families and job creators.” He noted the potential implications for local families, "The last thing Riverside County families can afford is a huge tax increase, which is exactly what will happen if Congress fails to extend the tax cuts that are expiring this year."
