United Cerebral Palsy of the Inland Empire (UCPIE) will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a community event at the Berger Foundation Iceplex on August 5, 2025. The event, known as the UCPIE 40th Brrr-thday Bash, is scheduled from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and will be open to the public.

The celebration offers free admission for up to 250 guests, requiring an RSVP. Attendees can enjoy complimentary ice skating, including skate rentals and aids for beginners. There will also be a birthday celebration featuring gelato, snacks, and Agua Fresca on the upstairs viewing deck. The Firebirds mascot Fuego is expected to make an appearance.

An opportunity drawing with prizes donated by local businesses will be part of the event. John Sprogis, President & CEO of UCPIE, remarked on the significance of this milestone: “Our 40th anniversary is not just a celebration—it’s a tribute to the incredible families, volunteers, and community members who have made UCPIE’s work possible.”

Sprogis also highlighted the choice of venue: “We’re honored to host this event at the Berger Foundation Iceplex, where our community can come together, cool off, and celebrate how far we’ve come—and where we’re headed.”

UCPIE is seeking donations for the opportunity drawing in forms such as gift cards and specialty goods. More information about donations or RSVPs can be found on their website or via email.

UCPIE has been working for four decades to empower individuals with disabilities in Coachella Valley through various programs and services.

The Berger Foundation Iceplex serves as a venue for multiple activities year-round and acts as a training center for local hockey teams like the Coachella Valley Firebirds.
