On June 29, 2025, deputies from the Riverside Sheriff's Perris Station responded to a hit and run traffic collision on the 1600 block of Perris Boulevard in Perris. The incident involved a Honda Pilot and a bicyclist. Upon arrival, deputies found the bicyclist in the center median with serious injuries. The injured party was taken to a local hospital and is currently in stable condition. The driver of the Honda left the scene before authorities arrived.
The investigation was taken over by the Perris Traffic Team. Initial findings indicated that the Honda's driver was traveling southbound on Perris Boulevard when he collided with the rear of a bicycle moving in the same direction. Alcohol was determined to be a contributing factor in this collision.
Authorities identified Kenneth Orlando Juarez Vega, aged 41 and a resident of Perris, as the suspect. Both Juarez Vega and his vehicle were located shortly after, leading to his arrest. He has been booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center for charges including hit and run causing serious injury and driving under the influence of alcohol.
