On June 26, 2025, the Lake Elsinore Station Special Enforcement Team (SET), in collaboration with the Riverside County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force (RCAHT), carried out a "John" prostitution sting aimed at reducing sex trafficking demand in Lake Elsinore. The operation led to the arrest of 20 individuals for offenses related to prostitution, including two arrests for pimping and pandering. Additionally, three potential victims were identified and provided with services and resources.

"Prostitution is not a victimless crime," according to information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The organization estimates that one in six endangered runaways reported are likely victims of sex trafficking. Victims often endure severe emotional, physical, and sexual abuse from traffickers and those soliciting them for prostitution.

The Lake Elsinore Station SET deputies aim to disrupt sex trafficking rings within Riverside County by identifying, pursuing, and apprehending those exploiting vulnerable individuals. They also plan to reduce future demand by targeting sex buyers.

Individuals with additional information are encouraged to contact Deputy Costin or Deputy Olson at the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station at (951) 245-3300.

For victims of human trafficking seeking help, contact can be made through the National Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline at (888) 373-7888 or local law enforcement departments.
