The Coachella Valley Firebirds have announced the addition of Vince Stalletti to their coaching staff as the goaltending coach. Stalletti comes to the Firebirds after a five-year stint with the University of Connecticut men's hockey program, where he served as an assistant coach. During his time at UConn, he was instrumental in player development and worked closely with the team's goaltenders.
Stalletti played a significant role in UConn's historic first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2024, helping them reach the Regional Final. He was also pivotal in developing goaltender Callum Tung, who set a new program record for save percentage during Hockey East play. Under Stalletti's guidance, three UConn goaltenders signed NHL entry-level contracts: Tomas Vomacka with the Nashville Predators, Callum Tung with the New York Rangers, and Arsenii Sergeev with the Calgary Flames.
Before joining UConn, Stalletti spent four seasons as an assistant coach at UMass Dartmouth. Originally from Furlong, Pennsylvania, he graduated from Johnson & Wales University with dual bachelor's degrees in Finance and Business Administration and later earned an MBA from Boston College.
