California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB), congratulated senior forward Daytone Jennings for topping off a winning basketball season with his recent National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) First Team All-Region selection, a release on csusbathletics.com said. Jennings is the third All-Region pick to represent the CSUSB basketball program in the last two years.
"I'm very proud of Daytone as being recognized as First Team All-Region," head coach Andy Newman said in the release. "Daytone is well-deserving as he established himself as one of the best big men in the country this season. He scored for us inside and out and always came up with huge rebounds when we needed them. He was a walking double-double. I am very proud that he is representing CSUSB as First Team All-Region."
Jennings' stats go beyond those Newman described and take on national significance.
"He finished second in the league with 9.2 rebounds per game, 27th in the nation; and was second with 11 double-doubles, 24th in the nation," the release said. "His 51.4 field-goal percentage was second in the league. He scored in double figures or grabbed double-figure rebounds in 16 games this season."
Jennings' selection reflects highly on CSUSB because he is the third All-Region selection in the past two years representing the school's basketball program, the release said. He joins fellow teammate Brandon Knapper and 2020 player Jeremy Smith in receiving the honor.
Jennings, who hails from Battle Creek, Mich., is also a three-time All-California Collegiate Athletic Association selection. He is studying kinesiology at CSUSB.
