In announcing their 2023-24 preseason schedule, the Lakers promised fans action at the newly constructed Acrisure Arena in Greater Palm Springs.
Coachella Valley residents can catch the Lakers vs. the Phoenix Suns during NBA preseason on Oct. 19 in Coachella Valley. The final game of the preseason kicks off at 7 p.m. in Greater Palm Springs, according to the arena's website.
Individual ticket sales started on Monday, June 26, through Ticketmaster, with prices beginning at $49, a news release on the Acrisure Arena website said.
The Lakers announced the preseason schedule, presented by Delta Air Lines, on Wednesday, June 21. Giving fans a taste of what's ahead, the website said, "The slate is highlighted by two home games inside Crypto.com Arena, as well as contests in Las Vegas and Greater Palm Springs."
There's a bit of history-making tied to the Coachella Valley game, as this will be the first NBA game at the new venue, which was built to accommodate both games and concerts, the Desert Sun reported. While hockey games can seat a maximum of 10,087 fans, basketball games like the Lakers vs. Suns, and other sporting events, can handle a bit more with a ceiling of 10,815, the article said.
In yet another milestone, this will be the first NBA preseason game in the region since October 2010, when the Suns hosted a trio of games in the outdoors at Indian Wells Tennis Garden, Desert Sun said.
Living up to its sports-related mission, Acrisure Arena serves as home to Coachella Valley Firebirds, a new addition to the American Hockey League, the arena's website said. Additionally, the arena already has hosted numerous A-listers as part of its commitment to entertainment events. With more than 300,000 square feet, modern suites and four premium hospitality clubs, the arena marked the completion of construction in December, according to the website.
