The American Hockey League’s Coachella Valley Firebirds will play four games at three Seattle-area venues from Friday, Oct. 21, through Saturday, Oct. 29, as part of their inaugural season.
A new AHL hockey franchise that’s “the official affiliate” of the National Hockey League’s Seattle Kraken, the Firebirds’ inaugural game will be at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022, in Calgary against the Calgary Wranglers, a news release said. The team’s home opening game will be against the Tucson Roadrunners at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18, at Acrisure Arena.
“Coachella Valley will host the Abbotsford Canucks for a pair of games beginning Friday, October 21, at Kraken Community Iceplex, the practice complex for the Seattle Kraken, followed by a second game on Sunday, October 23 at Climate Pledge Arena, the home of the Seattle Kraken,” the Firebirds’ news release said.
The second set of games will be played on Friday, Oct. 28, and Saturday, Oct. 29, against the Calgary Wranglers. The Friday game will be held at Angel Of The Winds Arena in Everett, Washington, the home of the Western Hockey League’s Everett Silvertips. The Saturday game will be at Kraken Community Iceplex.
The game on Friday, Oct. 21, is a sold-out, private event, while the games on Sunday, Oct. 23, and Friday, Oct. 28 are on sale to the public, the release said. The Sunday game will start at 6 p.m., while the Friday game will start at 7 p.m. The game on Saturday is sold out, but limited tickets will be available through a lottery for Kraken and Firebirds season ticket members.
