An investigation into a double murder Sunday inside a casita in Coachella has led to the arrest of a 22-year-old man, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said in a release.

Though initially just detained as a suspect, David Torres, a 22-year-old resident of Coachella, was later arrested for the murder of both victims and booked at the San Mateo County Jail in Redwood City, Deputy Sgt. Ben Ramirez said.

In another update on Sunday's double homicide, Sgt. Ramirez identified the victims as Hector Ramos, 23, and Monique Vega, 26.

No motive was reported, and the investigation is still ongoing, according to the release.

It was a 911 call that first brought officers from the Colma Police Department, located in the San Francisco Bay area, to a Coachella casita at approximately 8:20 a.m. on Sunday. Along with deputies from the Thermal Sheriff's Station, Colma Police met with the caller at a home on the 85300 block of Avenue 52 and learned that the victims were inside a casita attached to the main residence. Deputies established a crime scene, and the case was turned over to the Central Homicide Unit.

During the investigation, Torres was identified as a suspect and detained after being located in Colma. No further information has been released at this time.

Anyone who may have further information regarding this murder is encouraged to call Investigator Burgie of Thermal Station at 760-863-8990 or Investigator Anderson of Central Homicide Unit at 951-955-2777.
