As temperatures rise in the Coachella Valley, the City of Palm Springs has announced that three cooling centers will be available to residents when temperatures reach 100 degrees. These centers will operate through the end of September.

The cooling centers, a collaboration between the City of Palm Springs and the Community Action Partnership of Riverside County, are free to the public. The locations are:

- Demuth Community Center, 3601 E. Mesquite Ave, Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

- James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center, 480 W. Tramview Road, Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

- Palm Springs Public Library, 300 S. Sunrise Way: Monday & Thursday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Tuesday & Wednesday, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Friday & Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Pets on leashes are welcome at these locations; cats must be in carriers.

Additionally, Martha’s Village and Kitchen will keep the Palm Springs Access Center across from the Airport open daily for unsheltered individuals to cool down. Those needing overnight shelter will be transported to the Palm Springs Navigation Center.
