The City of Palm Springs has announced that City Hall will be closed for business on Wednesday, June 19, in observance of the Juneteenth Federal Holiday.
Juneteenth is a federal holiday officially celebrated on June 19 to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, following the Civil War, slaves were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation.
City Hall, located at 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, will reopen to the public for business on Thursday, June 20. Hours of operation are from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
