Hurkey Creek, a county park in the mountains of Riverside County, is set to receive updated amenities following the approval of a beautification project by the Riverside County Board of Supervisors. The project aims to address landscaping needs, improve restroom facilities, and conduct necessary maintenance tasks such as painting picnic tables. Additionally, new features like an icemaker and more horseshoe pits will be added.
Supervisor V. Manuel Perez, who proposed the project, emphasized its significance for families in the Coachella Valley. “Hurkey Creek was a place we went to for vacation as a kid with our tíos, tías and cousins,” said Supervisor Perez. “And for many folks, especially on the east side, we like going there; it’s only an hour drive up the 74. So I’m very proud of the fact that we are making this investment here and building up Hurkey Creek for more generations.”
The park is located off Highway 74 in the San Jacinto Mountains and is managed by the Riverside County Regional Park and Open-Space District. For more information about Hurkey Creek Park, interested parties can contact 951-659-2050.
