Sandra Magana-Cuellar has been elected as the 2025 Chairperson of the Mount San Jacinto Winter Park Authority, which oversees the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Originally appointed by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. in 2018, she was reappointed by Governor Gavin Newsom in 2023.

Magana-Cuellar, a resident of Corona, serves as Director of Government Affairs at Charter Communications since 2000. She is involved with several organizations including the Hispanas Organized for Political Equality Board of Directors and the Inland Empire Economic Partnership. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master of Arts degree in Communication Management from the University of Southern California.

“I am very honored to serve as 2025 Chairperson of the Mount San Jacinto Winter Park Authority,” said Magana-Cuellar. “The Tramway is a truly iconic attraction, and I hope my background in communications will serve me in ‘spreading the message’ about the Tram during my tenure as Chair.”

Other officials elected for 2025 include Vice Chair Nancy Stuart, Secretary Jonathan Hoy, and Treasurer Jerry Ogburn.

The current members of the Authority include Jerry Ogburn and Nancy Stuart appointed by the Palm Springs City Council; Jonathan Hoy and Giovanni Virgen appointed by the Riverside County Board of Supervisors; and Jeff Ohlfs and Brian Conley appointed by the Governor.

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is known for being the world’s largest rotating tram car. It opened in 1963 and transports passengers along Chino Canyon's cliffs from Valley Station to Mountain Station within approximately ten minutes.
