A recent economic study highlights the significant role Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) plays in the Coachella Valley's economy. According to the 2025 Economic Impact Study, PSP contributed $2.5 billion in total economic output and supported over 18,000 jobs during Fiscal Year 2024.
Commissioned by the airport, the report reveals that PSP generated $864 million in wages, $1.5 billion in value added to GDP, and $382 million in tax revenue for various levels of government while maintaining its passenger growth streak.
"This study demonstrates how deeply PSP is woven into the economic fabric of our community," stated Harry Barrett, Jr., Executive Director of Aviation. He emphasized the airport's role in creating jobs and supporting small businesses.
Palm Springs Mayor Ron deHarte noted, "As we plan for the Coachella Valley’s future, this report makes it clear that PSP is a cornerstone of long-term economic growth."
The study found that visitor spending tied directly to PSP travelers exceeded $1.1 billion and highlighted that most economic benefits remain within Riverside County.
Looking ahead, PSP plans major improvements over the next decade including a new concourse and a Federal Inspection Station. These projects are expected to create nearly 10,000 jobs and add significant economic output and tax revenue.
The airport serves as an essential gateway for more than 3.2 million passengers annually with services from 13 airlines connecting to numerous destinations.
